FREDERICKTOWN Seven miles north of Mount Vernon, and about 40 minutes north of Columbus, Fredericktown is located at the intersection of State Routes 13 and 95. It was founded in 1807 by John Kerr, as a mill site, and named for Frederick, Maryland. This community of 2,443 people is a growing industrial area, as well as an important market center of the agricultural community. There are seven churches and an excellent school system. More than just a village Fredericktown is a community, including the rural area surrounding it. There is a wonderful fishing lake Knox Lake, and Kokosing Reservoir and dam to the northeast. There are many beautiful dairy and grain farms. The area also boasts a Trout Farm and Maple Sugar Camps. The 22 acre recreation facility provides swimming, softball and soccer fields, volleyball, basketball, and tennis courts. Fredericktown has and excellent base of industry.
