Leadership Knox Mission Leadership Knox is designed to identify, nurture and promote future leaders in Knox County. The program will develop informed and committed leaders by providing participants with an understanding of the critical issues affecting Knox County and beyond. Leadership and stewardship capabilities will be developed to assist in resolving these issues with an emphasis on Knowledge, Skills Enhancement and Trusteeship. Program Objectives Leadership Knox is structured to encompass a broad variety of citizens from up-and-coming office associates to corporate management staff who have demonstrated an interest in assuming greater leadership roles and to educate them through programs that broaden and deepen their knowledge of the county's challenges and opportunities. Format Leadership Knox begins with an overnight retreat followed by full-day sessions, once a month, through May. It is an interactive experience with the people and places that make Knox County special. This program will inspire participants to commit their future leadership activities individually and/or collectively to areas that will result in advancing the welfare of the people of Knox County. You will know the community well, its history, its current issues and its future direction. You will establish a network of colleagues with a common interest: the future of our community. Our Commitment to You We pledge to provide you with experiences, knowledge and skills to better assume your role as a leader. The program will strengthen your confidence, motivation, creativity and relationships. It will open the door to a better understanding of the innovations that challenge today's decision making and allow you to pursue your personal vision. Our Expectation of You All sessions require your attendance and full participation. Your class will develop a project that enhances some aspect of Knox County. The project will require a commitment from you during each scheduled session as well as outside of the regular session. You will develop relationships with others in the class and work on the project as a team. Upon successful completion of the program, we will invite you to commit to areas of leadership in the community which may include accepting a role as an Ambassador of the Chamber of Commerce. The Role of the Sponsor Your sponsor is your direct supervisor within your organization who will fully support your candidacy by allowing compensatory time to attend and participate in all Leadership Knox activities. This includes each monthly session, and a minimal amount of other project activity. You will need to meet with your sponsor on a regular basis to assess progress on both your personal goals and your program goals. You and your sponsor will benefit by being personally involved in your leadership education.
