There are four separate awards presented each year at the annual Safety Council awards breakfast presentations. The awards are presented as a result of the information gathered through the Semi-Annual reports which are submitted by Safety Council members, once in January and July of each year. The Group Award is presented to the company with the lowest incident rate in each group. The groups are based upon the level of risk involved in the daily activities of each employee at the company. The Achievement Award is presented to each company that decreases its incident rate by at least 25% from the previous year. The 100% Award is presented to each company that works the entire year without a lost time injury or illness. The Special Award is presented to each company that accumulates at least 500,000 hours and at least six months without a lost-time injury or illness.
