The Winter Sanctuary, the homeless shelters in Mount Vernon, will hold its third annual home tour 1-5 p.m. June 25, with entry into five homes, none on any of the previous tours. Tickets will be $10 each. The event will raise funds for shelter operations.
The Winter Sanctuary, the homeless shelters in Mount Vernon, will hold Donkey-doo on Aug. 10, 2-7 p.m., with more chances for ticket purchasers to win than at last year’s inaugural event. As last year, the shelter will sell tickets corresponding to squares marked out on a field at 11660 Upper Gilchrist Road in Mount Vernon, near Knox County Head Start and the Knox County Health Department. When donkeys released into the field make droppings in a square, the holder of a ticket for that square wins a prize. Tickets are $5 each. The number of participating donkeys will increase, thus increasing ticket purchasers’ chances as well.
