Kenyon College - Seeing Thru the Pandemic: A Conversation with Gregory Spaid
We invite you to a mid-summer’s evening of short videos and conversation between artist Gregory Spaid, Gund Gallery curator of academic programs Jodi Kovach, and the audience in attendance. Several videos from Spaid’s serial pandemic project, made over the past twelve months, will be shown. “In the time of Covid, beauty took on new relevance for me. The limitations the pandemic imposed on me became an opportunity to see the commonplace differently, to look more carefully and listen more deeply, to take long silent walks in nature and to share what I have found with others.” –Gregory Spaid Spaid’s pandemic video project is part of his larger still photography project titled The Machine in the Garden. Four different variations of that project are on view at the Gund Gallery through August 1, 2021. This event is free and open to the public. While on campus, we ask that you adhere to the Kenyon College COVID-19 guidance and wear a mask indoors if you are not vaccinated. Fully vaccinated individuals are welcomed into all facilities without a masking requirement.
